Whether you're looking for a fun way to stay active, improve your coordination and reflexes, or simply explore a sport with a rich history and thrilling competition, fencing offers something for everyone. It’s a great way to engage both your mind and body, as the sport requires strategy, quick thinking, and agility. Plus, you'll be joining a welcoming community of like-minded individuals who share a passion for the sport. The best part? You’ll experience all of this for free, making it an ideal opportunity to discover if fencing is the right fit for you.

  • Fencing is one of the safest sports out there, with strict safety protocols in place to protect participants. All fencers wear protective gear, including masks, gloves, and jackets, to minimize the risk of injury during practice and competition. Additionally, fencing focuses on controlled movements and precision, ensuring that athletes engage in a sport that prioritizes safety while still offering an exciting challenge.

  • Wear a t-shirt, workout pants, and tennis shoes. Bring a water bottle and (optional) change of clothes with you too.

  • Fencing is a truly lifelong sport, with some athletes competing at the local, regional, national, and international levels into their 70s and 80s. At SIFC, we begin training fencers as young as 5 years old; our oldest fencer is currently in his 60s.
